Movie, Film and Cinema all have distinct connotations for me.

Could you elaborate?

Movie is something that simply aims to entertain.
Film is technically proficient and more serious and dramatic in tone,
Cinema is visually alluring and focuses on the image to tell the story.

Or something like that. I'm being very narrow and simplistic with these definitions.

True lovers only know them as talking picture shows. I pity the rest of you.

I'm a fan of all "picture show" variations.

Picture Show
Silent Picture Show
Talking Picture Show
3-D Picture Show
Late Night Double Feature Picture Show

Flicks is a good, ambiguous term that should probably be used more when talking about a film casually.

Every time I hear Kevin Smith say that, I cringe. Not really sure why but it bugs me.

Yes, it's crazy annoying when he says that, and I have no idea why either.

Agreed. It seems to belittle the films he is talking about.

I love ya, but yes. Yes you are.

-James Bond: A little. But I won't consider myself to be in trouble until I start weeping blood.
