I say that sometimes ("not life-changing" I mean; I generally don't talk about movies as "flawed"). But as opposed to you I actually consider a lot of movies to be life-changing! I take them to my heart and they melt into my personality.
Then there are a handful of movies which don't, which are only distractions and entertainment for the moment, a perfect escape from the ordinary life for two hours, but which I'll never think of again once I've finished them, which don't mean anything to me in a longer perspective. There's no reason not to love those movies, but I love them in a different way than I love the movies that make traces inside me.
I need to find a way to distinguish them from each other and explain what kind of a movie it is.
I'm sorry if it's a pet peeve to you. But I'll probably keep saying it once in a while anyway.
