Dear Student,

When I say 4-5 pages, I don't mean 10 pages.

Unless you are Shakespeare or Dickens reincarnated (and I'll need proof for that).

Sincerely,
Your word weary Professor

A professor once gave the class a take home essay.  He didn't put a limit.  So I handed in a thirty page paper.  Next time, he gave us a limit.

Well, I could reformat that paper to make it fit the page count...but then it would still be as many words, but harder to read. Page Counts + Formatting standards.

:D I'll bet he did.

MLA requires a Times New Roman (or roughly equivalent) font, 1 " margins, 12 point font size. Can't fiddle with the formatting much then and "fool" the teacher on page count. :)
