Having just this second finished watching Blackmail, I'm curious whether you're screening the sound version, the silent version, or both.

I never realised there were thirty months in the US.

Mostly for practical reasons - I don't have a copy of the silent version - I'll screen the sound version but will encourage students to watch clips of the silent online for comparison.  Which version did you watch?

This can't be the first time you've noticed that we do month/day

When does the thread on this begin? :)
Ha, would love it if Filmspotters would watch along with me/us! Pretty sure I won't have time to do any significant writing besides teaching-related stuff though this quarter. But here's the screening schedule if you're interested. :) (And if anybody wants to link me to their reviews of any of these, I'd love that!)

The Lodger - 1/9
Blackmail - 1/11
39 Steps - 1/18
Rebecca - 1/25
Shadow of a Doubt - 1/30
Notorious - 2/1
Rope - 2/6
Strangers on a Train - 2/8
Rear Window - 2/22
Vertigo - 3/1
North by Northwest - 3/6
Psycho - 3/8
The Birds - 3/15

I think it is past time for a Hitchcock marathon.  There are some others I'd like to see besides these.  Anyone up for a group marathon?

I'm in the midst of one, but probably just watching one film a month, with the occasional bonus. My current lineup looks like this:

Easy Virtue (1928)
Blackmail (1929) [silent]
The Man Who Knew Too Much (1934)
The 39 Steps (1935)
Secret Agent (1936)
Sabotage (1936)
Young and Innocent (1937)
The Lady Vanishes (1938)
Jamaica Inn (1939)
Lifeboat (1944)
Spellbound (1945)
Notorious (1946)
The Paradine Case (1947)
Rope (1948)
Under Capricorn (1949)
Stage Fright (1950)
Strangers on a Train (1951)
I Confess (1953)
Dial M for Murder (1954)
Rear Window (1954)
To Catch a Thief (1955)
The Trouble with Harry (1955)
The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956)
The Wrong Man (1956)
Vertigo (1958)
North by Northwest (1959)
Psycho (1960)
The Birds (1963)
Marnie (1964)
Torn Curtain (1966)
Topaz (1969)
Frenzy (1972)
Family Plot (1976)

Originally I was marathoning just his US films — which is when I watch the absent Saboteur, Rebecca, Foreign Correspondent, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Suspicion, and Shadow of a Doubt — but then I decided to go back more to the beginning.

I thought of your marathon, CD, which was fantastic.  I  :-[ didn't know about your marathon, pix.   Perhaps I'll just start on my own and invite others to join.

I'd like to revisit some of the greatest ones, weird ones I didn't get, and the handful I haven't seen yet (all silent I believe).

Thanks, and it's actually one of the few things I've finished lol.
