Gosling is brilliant in Lars and the Real Girl. In fact he might be even better here than he was in Half Nelson. It might have been the most challenging performance of last year. I am sorry but I really don't get why you have turned on Ryan Gosling. I am glad that you liked his willingness to be vulnerable. Also an interesting fact that I came across might explain why he isn't following the mamet book of acting. He had no real formal acting training after his stint on the Mickey Mouse Club. The reason he was probably cast in that show was because of his singing skills which were supposedly exceptional. I am not saying that him having no formal training is a bad thing but I don't think he subscribes to the Mamet theory.

I liked (but didn't love)
Lars
, but I did think Gosling was good in it. I was surprised Adam singled out Patricia Clarkson, who I generally really like but here I thought she was wooden.

There are countless scenes of this on YouTube. Pretty much everything about this film is weird.

A bit off topic, but since you guys seem to be fascinated by Kinski: there is a new documentary out in Germany called
Jesus Christus Erlöser
", which debuted at the Berlin Film Festival and chronicles Kinski's 1971 attempt at doing a live show about the life of Jesus and eventually spending most of the time arguing with and insulting the audience. I've only seen the
trailer
so far but it got great reviews, so you might wanna check it out when it becomes available.
