Elvis (2022)
★ ★ ★ - Good
The film features a "drop the mic" moment with a literal mic drop, and I can't get out of my head how Baz Luhrmann - a Titan of overstatement - decides to put the camera on the other side of the stage curtain so that we only Hear the sound of the mic, but because he always has everything dialed up to '10' that gesture of restraint seems even bigger than if we actually witnessed the mic colliding with the ground.

A Baz Luhrmann feast is all about the percentage of exhilarating vs. punishing. There's always both, but this isn't Blonde where I quickly wanted it to be over because numerous sequences made me realize when the director's career is done I'm going to wish he made more movies.
