we we're just talking about this last night.  i was saying that i'd take any of the last 3 winning performances over any from the past 15-20 years.

without a fresh viewing of any of the 90s films, i'd agree.  but i wonder how unimpressive/unmemorable these Day-Lewis, Whitaker, and Seymour Hoffman performances will look 15-20 years out.
But I wish the public could, in the midst of its pleasures, see how blatantly it is being spoon-fed, and ask for slightly better dreams.

i don't know.  i'm inclined to think they'll hold up but they are more fresh in my mind, at least i think ddl's will because it was so epic and over the top.

i don't know.  i'm inclined to think they'll hold up but they are more fresh in my mind, at least i think ddl's will because it was so epic and over the top.

I think Hoffman will hold up just fine.

I think they were both deserving. Either makes sense to me.
