Back to the Future is on my personal Top 100, but it has dated badly.

I actually don't think it's all that dated. Once you get passed the first 20 minutes that isn't the case at all.

But for everything Die Hard does wrong ... it does about 20 things perfectly.

Yes!  A thousand times, yes!

Great post.

Really tough choice here, but since I always say Die Hard is my favorite movie of all time, I have to go with John McClane and company. Back to the Future is brilliant, but Die Hard defined a genre. Only about a dozen other movies can say that.

Die Hard

Back To The Future is way overrated.
What? What are you talking about? It's girls and spaghetti. We love girls and spaghetti.

In fact I don't even think the first 20 minutes are dated. I chalk that up to the fact that the film explicitly takes place in 1985. In fact, some of the stuff is even funnier in retrospect. To think that some things were cool in 1985 that just seem ridiculous now.

You're overrated.

If you just think of it as a period piece set in 1985, it's just fine. The setting may be dated, but the story, characters and comedy definitely aren't.

Well, then I propose the rating system change to be based on your opinion of Back to the Future rather than on number of posts. Then I would be rated about 2 bajillion stars.
