What? What are you talking about? It's girls and spaghetti. We love girls and spaghetti.

But I wish the public could, in the midst of its pleasures, see how blatantly it is being spoon-fed, and ask for slightly better dreams.

I think everyone should post a one paragraph movie resume so people know their general area of movie interest.  I wouldnt want to recommend a Bergman movie to somebody who absolutely loathes foreign art films.
I’ve lied to men who wear belts. I’ve lied to men who wear suspenders. But I’d never be so stupid as to lie to a man who wears both a belt and suspenders.

That's a good idea zarodinu.

Well for starters here's my dvd collection with ratings (no rating means I haven't seen it): Link

And here's the pool I draw from https://www.cinemail.ca/browse.cfm

I don't necessarily want anyone catering to my tastes though. I like to challenge myself to new and different film all the time. You never know till you watch it, being my general philosophy. So really, whatever I get sent is fine.

It would be nice, I think, if we could ensure that what we're sending is something the person hasn't seen.

I guess you could disguise a potential selection in a list of 20 other movies, and pm it to the person asking them to check off what they've already seen... so there would be some surprise at least

i don't agree. one of the best things about this is that we will be watching stuff that we would never watch otherwise. not all foreign art films are the same, just like all western, musicals, or any other genres. we are all movie fans here, let's be brave.
