Salt and Pepper (1968)

Donner was directing episodes of The Banana Splits around this time and he brings that same sensibility to this. Frantic pacing, sloppy storytelling, obvious jokes with the score emphasizing the punchlines. Sammy Davis Jr. is really good, but I have yet to see him less than that. Too bad the script and direction are working against him because when he's allowed to riff, what comes out is usually pretty good.

Inside Moves (1980)

I was hoping for a nice character-based gem, but this made me realize that reality is Donner's enemy. No wonder he made such a good Superman or The Omen. It wasn't until Lethal Weapon that he even showed ability for good scenes about people sitting at a table and talking. You're supposed to enjoy spending time with these people and there's a great cast here, but everyone is so busy doing a routine instead of a character that I don't believe people like this ever existed.

Conspiracy Theory, 15˚

I saw this recently; had to change the vote from "haven't seen any" to "don't like any". :)
I might remember it all differently tomorrow.

I've never been able to infer what the tone of The Goonies was and whether I should watch it.

What led to this and never to Lethal Weapon?

If you allow me to prejudice a little, I doubt I would have had a considerably favorable opinion on Lethal Weapon.
Mel Gibson, Shane Black or Other?
