hi, mitch, welcome to the board

When Matty or Adam call a Top 5 list a "memorial list", they are indicating that the film named is so obvious as to be on everyone's Top 5.

Good additions to the list.  I love Thelma and Louise and, like you, think it stands up over time.

(Mild spoilers.)

Hey, here's another I really wanted to list:

  • The Day of the Jackal. (1973) IMDB title tt0069947.  The original -- the 90's remake was pathetic.  This may be seen as confusing the criteria a bit, as the Jackal initially is not so much fleeing the pursuers as stalking his prey.  But soon enough the authorities realize that something is afoot, and he becomes both prey and predator.  One of the things I love about this movie (and the novel it's based on) is the way our involvement and sympathies are grabbed first one way, then switched.

The Bourne Series

I didn't even think of Bourne, but now that you mention it, it is a little surprising since Adam loved it so much.
Let's just say Bourne is one of at least three movies so far listeners have sent in that have me smacking my head.

And True Romance doesn't have you smacking your head? It's a shame, that movie does not get nearly enough love. It's easily my favourite work by Tarantino.

1990 was a good year --

To Catch a Thief (Hitchcock, 1955)
Miami Blues (Armitage, 1990)
The Grifters (Frears, 1990)
Internal Affairs (Figgis, 1990)
Safe (Haynes, 1995)
