Speaking of bracket A, I'll take Perfect Blue v Cure.

Rice People does indeed have an impressive record, very curious to see how it fares this round.

I'll take Princess Mononoke (I've only seen it once) and Moving.

After the Rain vs The Scent of Green Papaya is an over early match up between two my favourites in the bracket.  Good luck with that one Jared.  Choose wisely.

Interstingly the two match-ups I was considering are two that have already been arranged, so as I have the option to be Player 2 on one of those I'm going to join BlueVoid with
Raise the Red Lantern vs Farewell My Concubine

Cool, and I'll take Pickpocket vs. M/Other.

PeacefulAnarchy is up next.

I think I'd love how awkward it'd be, or how awkward it should be.

Only two possible matchups of films I haven's seen, so I'll take:
Comrades, Almost a Love Story vs Like Grains of Sand

I love it. That's a matchup of the two films I watched right before this bracket started, when we were still figuring out what films to include. Definitely whetted my appetite for what was to come.

You're up, oldkid!

I'd like Whisper of the Heart and Vive L'Amour

Even though he didn't direct it, and considering you're watching the "sequel", you should be watching Whisper of the Heart, too.

My daughters have proclaimed that, of all Miyazaki movies, that is the only one they despised, and they refuse to watch it.  My wife and I saw it, and it was fine, but I'm not in a hurry to watch it again.

Eight short years later . . .

edit: Wait, Vive L'Amour and Whisper of the Heart aren't in the same group. If you want to stick with one of those two films, your options here are:

- Whisper of the Heart vs. Audition
- Whisper of the Heart vs. Days of Being Wild
- Hana-bi vs. Vive L'Amour
- The Hole vs. Vive L'Amour
- Spring in my Hometown vs. Vive L'Amour

Let me know.

I have to say, I am always confused by this.

Whisper of the Heart v. Days of Being Wild, then.
