Wow, Zhang vs. Hou in a first round matchup.  That's a real shame.

Both directors each had their share of films in the top sixty-four and out of the top sixty-four, so, I don't know, I think it's okay.  There's now a Oshima vs. Suzuki matchup, which is also daunting in its way.

By the way, I'm keeping tracking of the verdicts for each film and, after each round, I'll recalculate what the top seeds are.  So, for example, To Live wasn't a top seed this round, but it probably will be for round two.  And if Good Men, Good Women gets resurrected, it could stay among the top seeds as well.

Thirty-verdicts down and twenty-one more in progress.  The latest matchups:

     Taboo vs. Yumeji  (worm@work)
Peppermint Candy vs. Metade Fumaca  (roujin)

I'm very intrigued by these.

I just don't know why anyone would think that'd be a good first round matchup.

But then, I think we've established that I have no idea what the purpose of this exercise is.

Just some backgrond info:  Of the three people who had seen To Live prior to the bracket, one voted it Good and the two voted it just Fair.  There were no votes of Great, which is what kept it from being a top-seeded film.

Is it working?

Aren't there less complicated ways to have fun?
