I think Laura's the only one I've seen, and I need to watch it again.

I still need to revisit Laura.

Have now also seen Anatomy of a Murder, which is so good.

* * * - Okay

Rented this for Henry Fonda, though he's hardly in the film. (Kind of like renting A Few Good Men for Jack Nicholson, though Jack gets to do more with his scenes.) Like many Preminger films, this is handsomely mounted and classy all the way. It's smart and well-acted by an excellent cast, yet it's also kind of dry. I'd happily trade off some of the authenticity for a little more pulp. I don't want to see Charles Laughton play a realistic Senior Senator from South Carolina. I want to see him make a meal of the Senate floor. If you're in the mood for this, I say rent The Best Man, a superior film in every way.
