It is so much easier to write an essay when you have an outline.

I'd say it depends on the length. Anything over 12 pages, yeah, but I can usually breeze through 8 pages or more without any outline and be fine.

I haven't done it in the past. But this (5 pager) is supposed to cover the development of love poetry throughout the renaissance and that covers about 10 dudes. Having a specific poem and quote and general idea for each dud is super helpful.

Yea, outlines can be helpful when you actually need a particular structure. However, I rarely even use them.

I haven't used an outline since high school. I am about 6 pages into a 12 page paper right now, and you have inspired me to outline the rest. We'll see how this goes.

I can't imagine not using an outline.

I've always been a very natural writer, never once used an outline, even when I was required to do an outline I would never use it while actually writing the paper. I think following the strict structure of an outline would inhibit my writing style actually.
