We'll get a good indication of how the season's going to play out soon enough:

Saturday 13th: Liverpool V Man U
Sunday 21st: Chelsea v Man U

Manchester plays very well against Liverpool and I don't suspect that next match to be any different, especially if a healthy Ronaldo is back.
The Chelsea-Man Utd game could be interesting. Chelsea don't have Man Utd's speed, but they match them, if not surpass them, in physicality.

Man U have been rubbish without Ronaldo, I'll be surprised if they get one point from those matches (though the arrival of Berbatov may have an immediate impact, we'll see).

TRANSFER DEADLINE DAY MADNESS!

Spurs have already signed Corluka (great signing): http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2008/sep/01/tottenhammancity.corluka

And Man CITY have put in an audacious $34M bid for Berbatov! Hahhahhahha ;D http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2008/sep/01/manchestercity.tottenhamhotspur

Damn straight.

This Man City situation has just derailed the whole day. I am chortling just imagine how purple Alex Ferguson's nose must be with fury.

Hmm, I wasn't expecting for City to go after Berbatov. If it comes down to cash, I don't know who would get him. But if it comes down to where he should play if he wants his trophy wall to fill up, the choice is pretty obvious.

There's no chance he'll be anything other than a Man Utd player by 23:59 tonight.  It's a carbon copy of the Rooney situation a few years ago.  Player wants to go to Man Utd, Man Utd want player but the deal doesn't go through until a diddy club (City/Newcastle) force the price up for the selling club.

That's fine by me - i'm quite happy for Spurs to have a quality new defender and striker, get rid of a sulker, and pocket an extra few million pounds to spend in January.

It's going to be a really interesting season for Spurs. This must be at least the third consecutive season in which they start with the concrete goal of making 4rth spot. Only time will tell...
