Glory is really good, but I think it's elevated by the subject matter and the acting.

Otherwise I would say Zwick is a workmanlike director.  Nothing amazing, nothing too appalling.  Other than the Last Samurai but I already explained my opinion of that one in the other thread.

I know Legends of the Fall is soap-opera-ish, western melodrama, but it still gets me at a gut level.  Glory is his best film, but I have a soft spot for Legends.  The rest are pretty middling.

Glory. A lot of the rest feels like average Hollywood fare.
