We are pleased to announce the 2010 schedule for the Salt Lake City Film Festival. Feel free to peruse the Films section
where you can find 10 documentaries, 9 narratives, and 22 shorts that make up our schedule this year.
In 2010, the Salt Lake City Film Festival has grown in numerous ways. In addition to our usual home base of the Tower Theater, we’ll be showing films at The Post Theater at the University of Utah on Saturday and Sunday, the Broadway Theater (for our opening night film only) and Brewvies Cinema Pub for late night showings on Friday and Saturday.
The opening night feature, Cleanflix
, is a story that everyone in Utah (and most of the rest of the country) remembers.
All in the name of conservative family values, video store owners across Utah attracted attention by cutting the sex, violence, nudity and profanity out of movies, making them accessible for everyone. Unfortunately, no one asked the filmmakers for their permission.
With Sons of Perdition
, Tyler Measom and Jennilyn Merten spent two years following a group of boys that left a sheltered life of polygamy behind in search for individuality and the hardship they faced in the real world. From getting jobs to enrolling in school to helping other family members escape life at the compound these teens show the heartbreaking struggle of trying to leave behind one life in favor of something more.
From there, we have Russian ex-mafia, American jihadists, beautiful seas, vegan hot dog stands, drunken romantic comedies, magical cheese-producing goats, animated Mars missions, the world’s largest frying pan, killer tractors, and much more.
Tickets have gone on sale and can be found on each film’s page. Come out and enjoy what will surely be a great 2010 Salt Lake City Film Festival!
