I haven't seen Wild Reeds yet, but this

And then just that shot of François on the back of Serge's bike — kind of generic on paper, maybe, but in the context of the film, it's just such a heartbreaking shot of staggering genius.
reminded me of this

Close Up (Abbas Kiarostami, 1990)

Wild Reeds (André Téchiné, 1994)

This is one of the best threads ever.  I wish I had my entire DVD collection handy so I could post a few things.

Sorry, edited your post, just to be safe.

North by Northwest includes the pencil trick, too, though not with sexual doodlings.  I just saw it in some noir movie, too, but I can't remember which one.

I think I'd love how awkward it'd be, or how awkward it should be.

Yeah, it's not just the pencil thing; it's basically the same joke.

I saw that particular doodle in something else recently, but I can't think what.  I'm thinking French...The 400 Blows? or Breathless?
