And then just that shot of François on the back of Serge's bike — kind of generic on paper, maybe, but in the context of the film, it's just such a heartbreaking shot of staggering genius.

Sorry, edited your post, just to be safe.

North by Northwest includes the pencil trick, too, though not with sexual doodlings.  I just saw it in some noir movie, too, but I can't remember which one.

I saw that particular doodle in something else recently, but I can't think what.  I'm thinking French...The 400 Blows? or Breathless?
