Wait, Sean Penn is up for an ISA, but Milk isn't up for Best Feature? I'm going to need to check out the titles on that list I haven't seen to see if any of them are better than Milk.

What is this Ballast movie?  I don't feel like I've seen mention of it anywhere outside of this thread.

Really? It got good buzz when it played at Sundance. This is a good podcast. I've heard it compared to the Dardennes, which the trailer seems to confirm.

Too bad Ballast won't be coming 'round my neck of the woods... It's being self-distributed and that Hammer fellow doesn't like Texas :)

yeah, i know the feeling.  it played here in chicago for a few weeks, getting a lot of good words, but i still don't have any idea what it is (though i'm kinda bummed i didn't check it out)

Director Lance Hammer was on The Treatment a few weeks ago: http://www.kcrw.com/etc/programs/tt/tt081112lance_hammer

Karl likes it. He's a good man most of the time. Unless it concerns Glen Hansard.

Karl should totally pour honey all over himself and force glen to wear the bee outfit (once Junior is done with it).

Good for the Coens finally breaking into Eastwood territory where even their crap films get lauded like they're masterpieces!   ;D
