I created a list of 25 movies (sometimes not even good movies) that will be remembered for their high-speed contributions.

I like movies where it seems like there's about to be a car chase and then people talk to each other instead.

That...  and Raiders.

Examples?
"We didn't clean the hamster's cage, the hamster's cage cleaned us!"

Don't you remember in My Dinner With Andre when they're going to get chased by some Yakuza but instead order the black olive tapenade?

There's also that scene in Seven Samurai when they're all going to go after the robbers in a big samurai caravan but then they wait around some more instead.

There actually is a scene in Conspiracy Theory (I give it a C) where someone says (paraphrasing) "Hey, those guys in that car are following us!" and instead of starting a chase Julia Roberts stops her car and walks over to talk to them.

I thought, "OK, this film is trying my patience in about ten other ways but at least I didn't have to watch a Julia Roberts car chase."

-----------

On the list provided I would probably say that the Matrix chase is one of the worst, most cynical and pointless chases ever put down on film, but since "pointless and cynical" pretty much sums up the Matrix sequels I think my observation may be redundant.

I voted for Bullitt and The Bourne Supremacy.

Bullitt because I love the way it's shot. You get to see everything about the chase. The editing in the chase is superb I find.

The Bourne Supremacy because it is one of the few car chase scenes I saw in cinema that had me on the edge of my seat.
-Le Chiffre: You changed your shirt, Mr Bond. I hope our little game isn't causing you to perspire.

-James Bond: A little. But I won't consider myself to be in trouble until I start weeping blood.
