** POTENTIAL SPOILER _ LET THE RIGHT ONE IN **

Really glad you guys liked Let the Right One In.  You both mentioned the ambiguity of Eli's keeper, but I think it's pretty clear that he's just like Oskar, a young boy who fell in love with her, and we see where his devotion leads, which makes the ending all the more foreboding.  Great stuff.

Man, what is with the listener who sent in the letter about Groundhog Day not being worthy then listing a bunch of movies I never heard of? Too mainstream to be any good? I don't really like Groundhog Day all that much but it is a perfect fit for the subject.

Just watched the trailer for The Secret Life of Bees.  Was it something specific or just the fact that it goes above and beyond to give every twist and surprise of the film away?

How many times can Queen Latifah smile and nod approvingly and then dispense platitudes about life? I just think it looks like the worst movie of the year.

I just thought that was her purpose in life.

Adam-

I thought this was funny because you said all that Mathieu Amalric did in Quantum of Solace to be evil was bulge his eyes.

From Entertainment Weekly

EW: YOUR BOND VILLAIN IN 'QUANTUM' IS JUST YOU — NO BLOFELD SCAR OR SCARY BEARD.

MA: I was really scared! I thought, How come I'm not lucky enough to get a prop to help me be a villain? And [director] Marc Forster said, ''Your eyes will be enough.''

See I'm not crazy! Talk about an actor taking his director too literally.

Touché.

I wasn't all that impressed either with Amalric as the villain. That doesn't hurt his status as one of my favorite actors though.
-Le Chiffre: You changed your shirt, Mr Bond. I hope our little game isn't causing you to perspire.

-James Bond: A little. But I won't consider myself to be in trouble until I start weeping blood.

I agree with Adam, but we should note this really isn't Queen Latifah's fault. It's just how Black women tend to be written in Hollywood films. Sassy and wise but completely one-dimensional. I think that's called a Mammy.
