I've only seen it once, but I really enjoyed the film. I should watch it in anticipation for Milk.

Fascinating, haunting performance by Penn. Ebert said it best in his recent review of Milk, something about the man's capacity to portray any f-ing person in the world. (I just totally misquoted Ebert, BTW).

I just watched this the other day, and while I thought Penn was fantastic, I had lots of problems with the pacing. And, as great as Penn was I had problems connecting with the tale or his character because of how unbelievable he was. I know he existed and all, it's just for me it was hard to understand how a man like that managed that long in society, or to have friends, or to score a chick like Naomi Watts and so on.

been in my Netflix Instant Watching queue for ages...really need to give it a watch. Expiring movies get top priority however  :)

i'm a very big fan. I've been beating this film's drum since it came out. Without a doubt, it features one of Penn's best performances.

I liked it more than Taxi Driver. Weird, eh?

Good movie, yes. It felt like TAXI DRIVER with Penns character even sharing almost the same name  ;D  I didn't like the supporting actors though... I thought Watts performance to be shockingly weak. It's a Sean Penn show... he steals every scene.  :)
