1. Do The Right Thing
2. Drugstore Cowboy
3. A Tale of the Wind
4. The Decalogue
5. Leningrad Cowboys Go America

A Tale of the Wind is included in the 1988 poll.

Man, this keeps happening to me. Okay, Cook Thief Wife Lover is back in.

Movies I can remember seeing in the theater:

Do the Right Thing
sex, lies and videotape
When Harry Met Sally
The Abyss
Batman
New York Stories
A Dry White Season
Black Rain
Driving Miss Daisy
The War of the Roses
Cousins
Weekend at Bernie's

maybe: Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Crimes and Misdemeanors, License to Kill, Dead Poets Society

There are three movies I've rated a 2/100 on Criticker, my lowest score. One of them is this year's She's Out of Control. Which, in retrospect, is probably not that horrible.

The Cook The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover
Dead Poets Society
My Left Foot
The Abyss
The Killer

Saw all of those and many others at the cinema, not listed, but at the time Weekend at Bernie's was one of my favourite trips to the cinema that year. I was wandering around in the city and walked past the cinema and saw the poster for that film. I had heard nothing about it, which even in those days for me was unusual, so I saw it, and a great decision.

Really must see: Santa Sangre; Glory

Noce blanche (Brisseau)
I was wondering if Brisseau would show up eventually. Or maybe he did already and I just forgot.

Ha, I was just wondering if I could place him somewhere, and it was either this or Céline in 1992, but there is even more competition. So I guess, I cheated a bit by dropping Campion's Sweetie to HM just because it has been longer since I've last seen it.

I was really hoping Road House would have five votes by now.

  • The Decalogue (Krzysztof Kieslowski)
  • Do The Right Thing (Spike Lee)
  • Mystery Train (Jim Jarmusch)
  • Santa sangre (Alejandro Jodorowsky)
  • Der siebente Kontinent (Michael Haneke)
  • At present a Top 2 would have been sufficient
  • One movie is in the Top 100
  • I'd like to see Jesus Of Montreal (Denys Arcand)
Extraordinary (81-100˚) | Very good (61-80˚) | Good (41-60˚) | Fair (21-40˚) | Poor (0-20˚)
