I really hope The Matrix can pull this out.  It's too semimal not to be in the third round.  Just like Fargo was too seminal not to be in the second round.  Sigh.

The Matrix really killed itself in the last scene. I didn't need crappy flying Keanu to ge the point.

I'm pretty sure it was an homage to Back to the Future...

You better vote for The Matrix, hamster!

Even though I might like Jackie Brown a little bit more (I've not seen either in a few years), I agree with everything pix said.

Jacki Brown.

May The Matrix never see the light of day again.

Our common appreciation of Leos Carax means nothing anymore. Whoops!

Actually... I threw my vote to Se7en. I really feel it is a better film, that says a lot more about society than the philosophical ramblings of The Matrix ever could. I'd also venture to say that visually Se7en is jsut as nice as The Matrix, if not nicer. Obviously The Matrix is a revolutionary action film, and some sequences (Lobby shoot out) are extremely exhilarating and satisfying. But the film suffers from two major flaws that detract enough to really push Se7en over the edge. The first is that the love story between Neo and Trinity doesn't work and at the end when she kisses him and there are literal sparks in the background it's practically comedy. The other flaw - and this is the important one - is that everything that does not take place in the world of The Matrix or the Loading Program are dull, lifeless, and horribly boring. I just don't care if that spaceship makes it; I just want Neo to kick some computer illusion ass.
