Vol.1 is far better than Vol.2.  Though neither touch Eternal Sunshine or LiT.

In general, plot is overrated.  Just ask The New World.
The New World has plenty of plot, follows a three act structure and had several twists thank you very much.  :P

I've said it a million times, Vol. 1 is only better if you have an aversion to plot.  :P
