Top 20 Discoveries of 2008
« on: January 06, 2009, 02:11:36 PM »
What were the twenty best films you saw for the first time in 2008?  Not the Filmspot-eligible stuff.  The older films you just caught up with last year.

Working on my own list...

Oh, and I'm not really tied to any number.  "Top 20" just sounded good.

I don't record every movie I rent (maybe I should) so this is a major strain on my memory. I'm going with the logic that the films I remember are the best ones, but I'm sure I'm forgetting something terrific.

3. Young Mr. Lincoln

2. Breaking the Waves

1. Killer of Sheep

All the Wong Kar Wai, Akira Kurosawa, Leos Carax and Chantal Akerman that I saw.
-Le Chiffre: You changed your shirt, Mr Bond. I hope our little game isn't causing you to perspire.

-James Bond: A little. But I won't consider myself to be in trouble until I start weeping blood.
