does this include films like Im Not There and Frost/Nixon?

Probably not, though No Direction Home would qualify I'd assume.

Totally in. Documentaries are awesome.

Quoted for mad truth.

I hope my subject enjoys Shoah!

Er, maybe enjoys is the wrong word...

...adding, documentary is a broad enough category that there has to be something for everyone — even you Bill!  (Have you already seen Beyond the Mat, by the way?)  Besides the current crop of news magazine docs and talking heads docs and classic verite docs, there are plenty of worthwhile concert films, movie history documentaries (mostly involving Orson Welles, somehow — Battle Over Citizen Kane, It's All True, Visions of Light...), nature films (that one from Disney opening on Earth Day [noembed]looks awesome[/noembed], for the record), newsreel type stuff (The Educational Archives: More Sex & Drugs!), and cool, experimental stuff (Charles and Ray Eames, William Greaves).  Fun!

That said, mockumentaries seem like a stretch to me.

I was a hardcore wrestling fan back when Beyond The Mat was released, so yeah, I've seen it.

And Wrestling with Shadows, too, I assume?

As tempting as it is to watch a documentary.  One that might be really good.  I'm afraid I'll have to bow out for a few months.  I was thinking that May should just be a Palme D'or Dictator's Club for the Cannes Film Festival.

Besides, there's no CINECAST!ing way in hell I'm going to watch some goddamn Miley Cyrus/Jonas Brothers bullshit.  Jonas Brothers are just a bunch of whiny little ****s who can't really play and sing are all about looking pretty like the ***s they are.

Can we come up with different themes and vote on which one will be used for the MDC starting next month? That way we could get a consensus, though I do think docs is a great way to kick things off, and still spread our knowledge of the different genres.
