whoa, take me off the trust list! i like too many movies that don't pass the smell test.
that being said, it seems like Patrick Hogan put in his ten years as dialog editor, wrote a screenplay, got it greenlit, made "Pope Dreams," and now is back editing again. the plot isn't much more than a high-school daydream, but i liked the movie's spirit and the cast and ended up watching the whole thing. so there.
the protagonist dreams of sending his mom to rome to meet the pope before she cashes in her chips. but you know what? if he had come up with the scratch, she still wouldn't have gone because she wanted to spend her last precious days of life with the family instead.
and i do have to say, i kept picturing tobolowsky as the bad guy in heroes, and julie hagerty in airplane, and noel fisher in The Riches, and it gave the project some strange vibes.
