I tried to read it... a couple of times. Made it a little further the second time but not much. Then I tried the audiobook and got quite a bit further. I may have finished the first book or maybe not quite. I felt like I had 10+ hours into it at least.
It was rich and imaginative and intriguing but also really dense, expansive, slow moving and sometimes just too darn cryptic. Ultimately my engagement was a little too sporadic, and my attention would wander and I would miss things, and over time my understanding of wtf was going on really started to break down. I forgot who was who, or who had been where and done what. And I did not relish the idea of going back and relistening to try and make sense of it. So ultimately it kind of withered and died before I could finish it.
There's so much promise though, part of me does feel that I may give it another try after a bit of time. I can't speak to whether that promise is every really fulfilled.
I would say give it a couple hours, or a couple chapters and see what you think. Get a sense of the pacing, and crypticness and general style, and know that that does not change. If you are genuinely excited by it, then definitely keep going.
