Top 5 Films About Poverty and Economic Hardship for FS#254
« on: March 12, 2009, 08:24:09 PM »
I live in a little coastal town in Oregon, and we are hit hard by the lousy economy.  Got me thinking about movies that deal with the issue of poverty.  Slumdog just won best picture, so the topic is obviously on peoples mind.

5.  Grave of the Fireflies

4.  Pixote

3.  City Lights (almost any Chaplin really)

2.  Ballad of Narayama

1.  Woman in the Dunes

I’ve lied to men who wear belts. I’ve lied to men who wear suspenders. But I’d never be so stupid as to lie to a man who wears both a belt and suspenders.
