Filmspots 2009: Categories (Run-Off Poll)
« on: March 17, 2009, 10:53:13 AM »
The following twenty categories received 2/3 of the vote in the previous poll and will definitely be a part of this year's Filmspots:

Picture
Director
Original Screenplay
Adapted Screenplay
Actor
Actress
Supporting Actor
Supporting Actress
Ensemble Cast
Non-English Language Film
Animated Film
Documentary
Editing
Sound (Single, Combined Category)
Cinematography
Art Direction
Visual Effects
Debut or Breakthrough Feature*
Scene (Category 1, TBD)*
Line (Category 1, TBD)*

We're going to add up to six more categories, depending on the results of the poll above.  The "Empty Vote" options are for if you think we don't need that many.  So if there are only four categories that interest you, you'd vote for those four along with "Empty Vote (1)" and "Empty Vote (2)".  Everyone should select a total of six options.

I'm really surprised that a second category for Line is polling ahead of a second category for Scene... though I guess Shot kind of doubles as a second Scene category (Joker in the Cop Car, e.g.).

Score and Soundtrack are a must, they're very different things.  Scenes should stay split, though it's worth adressing how they're split.  Otherwise, I can live without many of them.  Makeup should just be part of Visual effects, costumes can maybe be included into an Art Direction/Overall Design catagory.  A song catagory seems like an argument about elegibility waiting to happen. Best Shot just seems like somehting that will be ard to keep track of, It's more like a discussion than something that can really be voted on.  And I don't see any burning need to split up the line catagory.

Best Shot, Song, and Music.
I actually consider a lot of movies to be life-changing! I take them to my heart and they melt into my personality.

It looks pretty certain that we're going to add at least five of these categories, so people that voted for any of the Empty Votes from 2-5 might want to consider redistrbiuting those votes.

Then again, maybe not.  It's all so confusing!

I've set the poll to close tomorrow night.  Ties will go to the runners.
