Ok, it seems i've been misunderstood here. If i've upset anyone then I apologise, but I was only joking. Of course it's never too late, especially in the west (I assume so for America and I can speak from personal experience in the UK - 2 years ago I was living in a shoe and now yap yap yap), and good luck to you all.

Friends?

Well, you didn't upset me...you are funny...I was only giving a perspective of 58 years hard toil on this Good Earth (name writer please)

Pearl Buck? Not that i've read it, I just recognise the title.
"What should have been an enjoyable 90 minutes of nubile, high-school flesh meeting a frenzy of blood-caked blades, becomes instead an exploitational and complex parable of the conflicting demands of agrarianism and artistry. I voted a miss."

I knew Milky was joking cos it is programmed into us ;D

Not to speak for the over 40s but it seems we all have this growing optimism, probably because the world hasn't killed us (surprisingly) and we are therefore stronger for it. Also one of the things about in particular discussing films is it shows that the wonder hasn't gone out of life and you can still be dazzled and amazed by things new and old.

Perhaps it is the one thing the younger people (patronised?) here should pick up on and be cheered by. You don't have to worry about getting older and feeling it means brain death, lack of ambition or the death of childish awe. I have seen some really s..t things in life, had some real rubbish thrown at me but am I cynical and grumpy about it? Well only sometimes.

The funny thing for me is that when many people my age are in mid-life crisis, trying to obtain that which they had never gotten, I realize that:
1. All my goals from earlier in my life have been realized and
2. I have new goals that are building on my previous realized goals.

I really have nothing to complain about, and no plans to make some dramatic changes in my life.  I'm content.  And I'm content that I'm content  :)

That is very cool.

that really depends on what country you happen to be in - fermented beverages are good all over!
