The Grandmasters trailer and teasers have me so f*ckin' hyped.

But will it ever come out?

 :(

Tentative December 18, 2012 release for the Asian market.  Looks like a 2013 wide release in the U.S.

Does anyone have a link to an article regarding the different versions? I watched the 130 min version, which I thought was the full HK cut, but there are still these huge jumps in time when major events happen. It threw off the editing of the film into a disjointed series of loosely-connected events. (Donny Yen's Ip Man also jumps through time, but it settles into the events like a series of 4 or 5 short films that give a portrait of the man's life. Here, Tony Leung becomes just one serene part of a larger ensemble.)

What remains are a lot of pretty images including a distracting abundance of inserts of objects slowly wobbling in the kung-fu and Zhang Ziyi's pretty/unhappy expression. It's the clunkiest film I've seen from WKW since Ashes of Time.

I watched this last night and had the same reaction. It felt like it was a Shaw Brothers film with higher production values. I didn't hate it but it was certainly underwhelming.

Try this

It is very long but there is discussion about the different versions.

Also I am over safari on the iPad. Every time I change tabs it refreshes the tab, so I lose what I have written if I go to another tab to look something up. Aaaarrrrgggghhh
