Bambi: Best Sequence
« on: April 18, 2009, 02:27:37 PM »
For Bambi, I decided to combine Musical and Non-Musical sequences since there's not many songs, and "Little April Showers" is the obvious classic from the film.

I voted for Leaves of Fall, although I could have gone with many others. My Bambi review will be up tomorrow. I'll have a lot of fun writing it. It will be less structured I think than my previous entries.
-Le Chiffre: You changed your shirt, Mr Bond. I hope our little game isn't causing you to perspire.

-James Bond: A little. But I won't consider myself to be in trouble until I start weeping blood.

I thought that Bambi had a number of impressive sequences, mixing up various animation techniques.  I think what hurt the battle scene for me was this particular stylized animation was just used for part of "Pink Elephants on Parade" and the wordless sequences set to symphonic music reminded me a bit of Fantasia.

In order, my Top 5 would be...

1. Snow and Ice
2. The Leaves of Fall
3. The Battle for Faline
4. Fire
5. The Hunters Return

the wordless sequences set to symphonic music reminded me a bit of Fantasia.

Me too, but unlike Fantasia there was a natural progression in the cohesive whole and despite not really getting to know any of the characters much better they were still part of this singular world that gelled with everything else that was going on, which is why I didn't mind those sequences much at all.

Playing with Thumper, absolutely. The animation and playfulness of that sequence made me smile all the way through. I also really loved the whole twitterpated sequence.

Little April Showers, the best looking sequence of the film and the most enjoyable for me.
