Any UK filmspotters have a chance to see Danny Boyle's Frankenstein yet?
Nope sorry. Last thing I saw was a pantomime at Theatre Royal Windsor in 1999...

Not exactly a play, but I am currently seated waiting for a CT Forum to start. The topic is "The Brain" and includes Temple Grandin as one of the panelists.

It was totally fascinating. I might be able to go to the next one which includes novelists John Irving, Azar Nafisi, and Jonathan Franzen. I should probably read some of their books first.

Anyways, they've put a few of the more popular discussions on the internet including those between Bill Moyers and Andrew Sullivan, Thomas Friedman and Malcolm Gladwell, Kurt Vonnegut and Joyce Carol Oates and Jennifer Weiner, Al Franken and Ann Coulter, and quite a few others. Check it.

Wow, that is great - thanks for the link. I'm particularly interested in the Oates and Vonnegut one.

Saw Avenue Q two days ago. I've only been waiting for 5 years. Favorite parts:

Bad Idea Bears: "You should hang yourself. Yeah! Hang yourself! YAAAAAAAAY!"
"No, I'm not going to hang myself!"
"Ahhhhhhhhh... Well, I'll leave this rope right here."

Bad Idea Bears: "We founded Scientology!!! YAAAAAAY!"

Ensemble: "GLENN BECK - is only for now"

It could just be my favorite musical ever. My only complaint is that this show's Gary seemed a little off. Show: 10/10 Performance: 9/10

Abraham did a real good job as Shylock.  This was an updated production, set in a modern business environment, and I thought the staging was very well done.  The caskets to be opened to win Portia's hand were 3 Mac Laptops that delivered the messages on large screens.  Launcelot was good comic relief.

The Merchant of Venice- with F. Murray Abraham. Next week.

This is quite a few months away, but is still quite a coup for The Crucible theatre in Sheffield.

Quote
Wire Stars in Sheffield Othello

The Wire stars Clarke Peters and Dominic West will be reunited in a major revival of Othello, the centrepiece of Sheffield Theatres 40th anniversary season which will open in the Crucible Theatre on 20 September (previews from 15 September) running to 15 October 2011.

Sheffield Theatres' artistic director Daniel Evans will direct Peters and West, who played Detective Lester Freamon and Jimmy McNulty in the cult American show, as Othello and Iago, alongside founding artistic director of the Crucible Theatre Colin George who returns to play Brabantio and Gratiano.

Peters' theatre credits include Porgy and Bess (Savoy Theatre), Simply Heavenly (Trafalgar Studios), Mourning Becomes Electra, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom (National Theatre), The Iceman Cometh (Almeida Theatre and on Broadway), Chicago (West End and on Broadway) and Kiss of the Spiderwoman (Shaftesbury Theatre). Last year he starred in a revival of Five Guys Named Moe, the 1990 West End musical for which he wrote the book, which travelled to the Edinburgh Fringe before a London run at the Theatre Royal Stratford East.

"And then it just becomes an industry of...cool."
