Alright, rambling verdict discussion time.
Hopefully I won't be the only one of the Thin Red Line-Lost Highway group doing this, so I won't feel like a jackass.
To star things off, with the Thin Red Line... man, Malick really
does have a tree fetish. It's also the only John Cusack role where it didn't seem like he was playing the same CINECAST!ing character he has in every other film, although part of it might've been that he didn't have the screen time to become said character. That's one of the things about the film, that I'm not sure about, one way or another. It's SO expansive, it's incredibly long, but at the same time, there are several characters where you don't seem to know too much about them. To me, the performance that I identified with the most was Koteas'.
