And once again my faith in filmspotting land has deteriorated.

Go back to watching your damn intense war sequences in Saving Private Ryan>:(

Heaven forbid a director create suspense in a war film.  :P

there was no suspense in the first 45 minutes - ok thats a lie - for 45 seconds we see a patrol boat and for 25 we see a POV shot of a Japanese bunker.  that was a suspenseful minute & change.

The war sequences in Thin Red Line are as good as, if not better than, the war sequences in Saving Private Ryan.

Yeah, of my issues with the film, the action/suspense was not one of them, not by a long shot.

I agree the war sequences are great. Its the 6 1/2 hours of non-war scenes I have a problem with.

If I could do it again, I'd climb more trees.  I'd pick and I'd eat more wild blackberries.

People don't like things they can't put in a box.

Oh. While I was typing Matt has posted his verdict. I shall now ignore this thread until I get around to watching Trust.

huh, a reverse shot where Nolte's mouth can be seen moving but the dialogue is cut - that didn;t strike me as intentional
