somewhat stunned Crude is in that first group.  what did you like about it?
But I wish the public could, in the midst of its pleasures, see how blatantly it is being spoon-fed, and ask for slightly better dreams.

I no longer remember, really.  It was pretty good, though.

hmm, my write-up is pretty luke-warm, no?  i think the content was worthwhile, but the film itself was quite ordinary, even a bit sloppily constructed.  and you apparently agreed with me on that :)

I don't remember the sloppy construction too well, really, but the subject was pretty unweildy, so I wouldn't be surprised.  In fact, I think I even liked the way the film let things unfold, without using excess narration or titles to impose a false structure on a years-old drama.  And it was constantly engaging, with the content being strong enough to offset most of the minor flaws.  Even though it wasn't quite character driven, as you mentioned in your review, I liked the way the film used the context of the legal case to explore a region and a culture — not one main character, but the sum total of all the fleeting characters.

Something like that.

I'm pretty happy with my top five, given that it's not even August yet.  An A/A- film sure would be nice, though.

Maybe Zemeckis can rush-release that Alf project?  ;)
