Song of the South is only racist if one watches it completely at a surface level.

I agree with you.  I went to a seminar hosted by film producer Ron Stacker Thompson where an original Technicolor Print was screened and then a discussion of the film's racial issues and context were discussed.  It was incredibly interesting and furthered my opinion that this film is wrongly maligned.

The ideology of "White Dog" is like, the opposite of racist.

At least half of those aren't racist. When you have "Heart of Darkness" as an identifier for racism you know something's wrong with the article.

Achebe would disagree. Unless you're not talking about the novel.

I debated posting this, but I'd be interested in your thoughts.  Most of them I think are laughable inclusions.

Pretty much any Spike Lee film including his most benign and commercial efforts (Inside Man) has ten times the racism than any of these, atleast the ones I have seen.

Roger Ebert talks about getting his voice back. I particularly like this section:
Quote
They said they needed good quality audio to work with. Hey, no problem. I'd been doing movie reviews on television since 1975 and had hours and hours of old programs. But it wasn't that simple. They listened to the old shows, and discovered (1) somebody else was always interrupting me, (2) I sounded all worked up a lot of the time, and (3) you could kinda hear the soundtracks of movies playing in the background.

I got their point. It would seem strange if I said, "Let's have a moment of silence," and in the background, you could hear Transformers ripping off the top of the Great Pyramid. Could I excuse this by explaining I'd been a movie critic so long that old soundtracks were embedded in my very soul?

I look forward to reading that one as I tend to not like many title sequences unless they are way interesting. I'm a huge fan, as many are I'm sure, of the save the title card for the end of the film move.
