I didn't go to a cat café when I was in Japan, but I did go to a maid café, which admittedly isn't as weird. I was kind of floored when I was told about the cat cafés. I mean, really, that's just silly.

I always found the love of cats a bit funny but enjoyable.  I guess that goes for any pets but it was funny to work there and have a coworker that had framed pictures of her cat on her desk all the time.  I don't quite understand it but it does make me smile...

Wow, he got really, really fat. Japanese wrestling is rife with that stuff though, since the MMA boom they've gotten increasingly crazier to try and keep their dwindling fan base.
