It's credible evidence because I said it's my 3rd favorite film of all time and my favorite by him.

Good Will Hunting is my favorite Gus Van Sant movie, so you're not alone.

Good Will Hunting is my #3. I had Finding Forrester in my top 100 too. Gus Van Sant is the man.

"Finding Forrester" and "the man" in the same post without a "now, dog" at the end?  That has to be unprecented.

Maybe I should just end all of my posts that way now...dog.

Van Sant does kick ass, and I have yet to see Forrester, but how is "Good Will Hunting" credible evidence when discussing this man's greatness? Sure it's a good film, but it's probably my least favorite Van Sant I've seen.

I wonder if this is the problem with Van Sant.  Part of why we know he's such a great director is because he creates such a variety of movies.  Some are impressed by the "mainstream" (Good Will Hunting) VS, while others prefer the "arthouse" (Elephant) VS, while others prefer the ones that blend both styles  (Paranoid Park).  Most of us agree he's great, but we can't agree WHY he's great, or what movies he's great for.

Paranoid Park blends both styles?

For me the jury is still out on Van Sant, but so far they're pretty torqued. ;)

Just noticed that United 93 didn't make the list.
 :(
I feel like the film's reputation will continue to improve with time, and eventually it will make it.

Also, why so little love for Who Framed Roger Rabbit?

I put both of these on my list.

Haven't seen United 93. Roger Rabbit, however, is pretty bad.
