That's the problem with rules, I'm actually supposed to have read them.
Wait, we have to do reading to make this list?

I'm trying to find movies that will break into my top 100 ... which of these will have the best strike rate? I'm looking for ones I will love/hate as opposed to something I'll like but not love.

Lust, Caution
Synecdoche, NY
The Searchers
Scarface
Changeling
It's A Wonderful Life
Some Like It Hot
2046
The Red Shoes
Sunset Blvd.
Those are my principles, and if you don't like them... well, I have others.

The Searchers is the best movie in that list and it's not close.

(disclaimer: haven't seen Synecdoche or The Red Shoes)

I haven't seen The Searchers or Sunset Blvd. in ages, but I imagine of the ones I've seen those would have the most support.  It's a Wonderful Life has many supporters around here (I still haven't seen the whole thing).  I like The Red Shoes a lot and know that many others do as well (I think Bill is the only one who wasn't crazy for it?).

You should see these before making your list, in order of greatness:

The Searchers
The Red Shoes
It's A Wonderful Life
Some Like It Hot
2046
Sunset Blvd.
The End of Cinema

Seattle Screen Scene

I'd say the same, but replace Red shoes with Synecdoche.
I actually consider a lot of movies to be life-changing! I take them to my heart and they melt into my personality.

If there was one movie I could recommend to everyone before making the list, it would Woman in the Dunes.
I’ve lied to men who wear belts. I’ve lied to men who wear suspenders. But I’d never be so stupid as to lie to a man who wears both a belt and suspenders.
