top 100 "uses of music in film"

This says something different to me than picking a score or soundtrack as a whole.

But like we've seen this year, a single film can have both a score and a soundtrack.   I think we just need to clarify what we are talking about.  I'm all for voting for the best use of all the music in a film.

The song I've listened to the most according to iTunes. Hard to believe this was thrown together at the last minute after the studio balked at Michael Mann's plan to have a Tangerine Dream-esque score (as perfect as this is, I sure would love to hear that version).

Great list, philip!

Thanks!

I highly recommend listening to the Glory at Sea score and checking out the short film if you haven't already seen it. I think it's way better than his feature: Beasts of the Southern Wild.

I haven't listened to much Vig Mihaly but that Werckmeister Harmonies score and the two or three of his band's songs I've heard are unbelievable!

Yeah, really something else. I was blown away by the film the first time I saw it. Re-watching again this year the music really stood out. Perfect.

I also love #36! It's perfect.

So perfect that Morgan Creek used it as their logo music for a number of years.

And the Bryan Adams song was one of my first song obsessions. Listened to it on repeat for most of 5th grade.

I'm not going to tell you how much I've listened to that song as an adult!  ::)
