I want to have coffee with Spike Lee and D. W. Griffith, will be mildly amusing if nothing else.

That is a movie right there.

Or a UFC cage match.
I’ve lied to men who wear belts. I’ve lied to men who wear suspenders. But I’d never be so stupid as to lie to a man who wears both a belt and suspenders.

Make a better sitcom.

5.  David Lynch - What a trip that would be.
4.  Gus Van Sant -I have heard him on a few shows and he has a totally different perspective on film.  Down to earth also.
3.  The Coens - They do so little personal press and rarely DVD extras.  I'd love to pick their brain.
2.  Scorsese - To listen to the stories from Mean Streets, Goodfellas, Raging Bull, Taxi Driver, etc.
1.  Tarantino - He is my favorite working director. His encyclopedic knowledge of film would be awesome to bask in.

He would bring his own brand of coffee and want you to drink it.

Those are actually two really great choices.

Because based on the interviews I've listened to, these guys seem most personable (they make pretty good movies, too  :)):

Rian Johnson
Shane Meadows
Paul Greengrass
Danny Boyle
Duncan Jones

(Note to self: I need to listen to more interviews with women directors.)

Good list!

Sophia Coppola. You get to talk about her movies and her fathers! It's like getting a bonus director.

Good one! Seems like she'd be a pretty cool person to hang out with.
