I will defend Spielberg tooth an nail even though he shares responsibility for the Indy 4 debacle.

Talking of debacles. How do you feel about A.I.? I'm really looking forward to reading what a Spielberg apologist has to say about that movie.

I'm not a big Spielberg fan, but these movies are good,

Honey, I Shrunk the Kids
Joe Versus the Volcano
Hook
Deep Impact
The Terminal
War of the Worlds
Disturbia

Of course he was responsible for Close Encounters and the craptastic nature of that film almost ruins any goodness those films may bring to the table.

Also, for a bunch of the films you listed he was merely a producer, not the director, so I can't blame him for those.

I love Close Encounters too much to even discuss it, let alone apologize for it.

Please someone convince me it's going to suck

1) it's based on a book with basically no plot or dialogue
2) Jonze make surreal philosophical movies, not kids movies, so it's bound to be schizophrenic
3) way too much hype
4) there will be tons of pointless filler to make it 2 hours
5) all the raving before release means it will not be edited enough because they think its perfect already
6) the kid is a nobody
7) we already know the whole story/plot

IT MADE THE KIDS CRY!!!!

he asked me to try  ;D

Thanks Clovis...that is a very good effort there.  I'm still not convinced.

I will never be convinced.
I actually consider a lot of movies to be life-changing! I take them to my heart and they melt into my personality.

No, not anymore. I used to be an apologist of Spielberg and especially Nolan. Nowadays, I've taken a complete opposite turn of giving a one-size-fits-all criticism to any movie that doesn't please me - regardless of whom the director is - which is probably just as bad.

Oh well. Good luck trying, you auteurs. ;D
