I never understood the math of a compilation list. Does it benefit to put a minimum-maximum on the number of submissions? No less than 25, no more than 150?

I think you may get more responses and better choices if you don't force people to come up with 100 recommendations. No reason to have people padding out such a list in order to participate, or deciding not to bother. A max limit makes some sense, too.

I wasn't here when the last one was done so I'd love it if there were another.

Last time we didn't insist that people post a full top 100.  The full discussion of how we approached it is here.

I would definitely participate in a forum top 100, and I'd gladly help to organize it too if needed.

Cool update!

Some of the more eclectic picks I admire:
The Enigma of Kaspar Hauser
House
The Hole
Lady Vengeance
Linda Linda Linda
Mind Game
Offside
Safe
Syndromes and a Century
Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives

I, for one, enjoy the meaningless process of ranking stuff, but doing it this way works out too. It works as a catalog, or an ideal library (how would you say that for discs in English ?) which you can go through to find something to watch - figuratively at least.

Had a nice time just looking at the screenshots, a lot of nice choices there. :)

Also it reminds me I'm supposed to watch Thief to catch up on the Next Picture Show.

Library is the right word there, I think.

Thanks! Hunting down screenshots was the most laborious part... a lot of them I already had shots, but I had to do a lot of searching for the others. There are a few I'm not entirely happy with but I'd already spent way too much time on it.

I love searching for screenshots. It's just nice to make a page of lovely images for a list. I could probably do it all day, and actually have for most versions of my top 100.

I prefer to capture them myself, but that's super time-consuming, plus I don't have a way to do it with Blu-Rays.

Unless I'm mistaken, Scenes From a Marriage was once #1, then #2, and now it's #181! :)

Has any other film rocketed up or down that much over years?
