Visually interesting is definitely a trademark of his films.

Hey Sam, I will give CERTIFIED COPY, STALKER, and SHIRIN  a spin, I'm very curious to talk a little about your thesis when I get to the latter!  Looks like I will get my first glimpses of Abbas Kiarostami, I'm excited!

Woohoo! Few things make me happier than getting people to watch Kiarostami films!  :D

Reflecting on how many of these I watched because of our time on the forum.

Rafiki stands out as a new one to me.
I see that you updated your ICM lists as well. Looks like I have 6 honorable mentions to consider as well.

Updated!

Don't hate me, but I don't remember what #1 was before. To my memory, they were alphabetical(?). Please tell me they were alphabetical!

Daughters of the Dust should make for some interesting dialogue. I just watched it tonight. Gotta prepare my thoughts when I wake up.

Priorities of mine from your list:
Drugstore Cowboy
Eraserhead
A Moment of Innocence
El Norte
Wendy and Lucy (and all Kelly Reichardt)

Yes, they were alphabetical. When asked, I always say my #1 is Fanny & Alexander.

Daughters of the Dust is the biggest curveball on my list. I only watched it once, and rather recently. I didn't record any thoughts about it and I have a few doubts it will hold up on a second viewing. But I found very unusual and entrancing.

I was updating my Essentials when I broke my brain. Some of my new rankings are wildly different from my old ones and there are paradoxes like the following everywhere...

Dawn of the Dead (1978) is better than Who Framed Roger Rabbit
Who Framed Roger Rabbit is better than The Silence of the Lambs
but The Silence of the Lambs is better than Dawn of the Dead

I don't have any new entries. Still 456 titles with 160 ★ ★ ★ ★ and 26 ★ ★ ★ ★ ★.
Specific placement feels like a lot of time wasting.

If I make another top film list, it will probably be alphabetical.
