I firmly believe that most people haven't actually watched ROTJ and paid attention to how ridiculous of a film it is at points. It's saved by some greatness in-between all the ridiculousness, but when it's ridiculous it is ridiculous.
Which bits do you feel are ridicules?

The idea of the Empire being stopped by tiny bears with arrows and spears is the worst. I don't mind the Ewoks as characters, but having them take down the Empire was just stupid. The instant celebrating added in at the end, admittedly only in the SE, because yes, if one part of the empire's army is defeated then clearly the entire army all over the galaxy will be overthrown at the same time. The stuff in the Ewok village is pretty bad, as is some of the stuff in Jabba's palace before Luke arrives. I think there was more, but I haven't seen the film in about three years now.

I'm actually okay with the Ewoks' part in the Endor battle. Aside from the Ewok hang glider and catapult, I felt like most of what they achieved was at least plausible. I always look at them as having provided a needed distraction while the rebels got important work done. Sure they kill a couple AT-ST's and clobber a few guys, without which the entire plan would've failed, but I don't think they really accomplished anything far beyond their means.

I agree about the universal celebration at the end. Not a good bit. Luckily it's fairly short, and we're back on Endor pretty quick.

I dunno. Maybe I'm being an Jedi apologist. The good far outweighs the bad for me though.

But I wish the public could, in the midst of its pleasures, see how blatantly it is being spoon-fed, and ask for slightly better dreams.

I'm noticed a lot of people have Antanarjuat on their lists, including you Clov. I'm definitely going to have to check it out. Actually, I have it at home ready to go, I've just been putting it off for other things. It's not gunna happen before the deadline I don't think. :(

You're too quick for me. I'm just messing with some stuff, it will be back shortly.
